Join award-winning writer and poet Kate Cantrell in this unique writing course!

There’s no magic formula for getting published. However, there are tips and tricks that, once discovered, can bring you closer to publication. Regardless of whether you’re working on a short story or a novel, the process of rewriting and revising is crucial.  What happens after you’ve written your killer ending? How do you prepare your work for publication? In this workshop, Kate will demystify the pathway from pitch to page.

On the way, you’ll learn:

  • How to revise your work effectively, without comprising your authorial aims or intentions.
  • How to write an effective pitch, a stunning cover letter, and a catchy bio.
  • Where and how to submit your work to an agent, editor or publisher.
  • Where and how to promote your work to maximise circulation and reach.
  • The most common mistakes that writers make when submitting their work for publication.
  • Strategies for self-editing that will assist you with everything from plot to punctuation.

This course is a hands-on workshop that consists of creative writing exercises, critical reflection on practice, and industry-insider advice, led by an experienced writer, editor, and teacher. The course is particularly suited to short story writers.
